The Normans made raising arms while dancing illegal for the Irish and thus a new form of dancing was created. Though many say this is a myth, with the outlawing of “gestures” and “excessive celebration” throughout American sports–you must not spike the ball, fall on your knees, point to the sky or at an opponent–makes you wonder if the myth for the Irish is more true than not. Are we not more civilized than the Normans of the Middle Ages? … Maybe not.
